While the men kept the guard outside, the ladies entered the Ellie Sanderson bridal boutique for Sabinaâs scheduled appointment. Miriam was waiting for them to arrive at the front of the shop, and she hugged Alex, Emily, and Sabina in greeting. She shook Helenâs hand when Alex introduced her, and then inclined her head slightly to Lady Juliana.
They were led to the same viewing room both Alex and Emily had used before, and Miriam asked for a direction to take them in.
âMiriam, this will not be my first wedding, so I absolutely do not want to wear white. I do love color, but nothing that is glaring or too bright for this occasion. Iâm looking for a subtle gown that will work well with my skin tone, and one with a full skirt. Strapless is fine, as I donât think I would be comfortable with a lot of material on my arms or near my neck,â Sabina said calmly, already letting her eyes peruse the selection.
âVery well, we can look for a gown with a bit of soft color. I have a few other gowns like that in a different room, so Iâll go pull those first, and then come back in here,â she smiled, and left to retrieve the other dresses.
Alex and Sabina began to peruse the selection in the room, and soon they were both moving a few over to the small rack used for the fitting room. Emily and Helen both walked along looking too, but only found one dress each that was not white. Within ten minutes, everyone had worked to place sixteen gowns with color before Sabina for her opinion.
She thanked everyone for their help and then lifted each from the rack, looking over the material and cut of the gowns. There were nine which she immediately declined, and those were moved away so Sabinaâs selection was down to seven. Alex had brought along one of the small corsets she had for a formal gown, still at her motherâs house, and Sabina used it to begin trying each dress on.
Alex and Sabina had often commented to each other what a blessing it was to be the same size, so they could share clothes with one another whenever the notion struck them.
Once each gown was on her body, Sabina walked in it and let the others give her their opinion. The fourth one gave her pause and put a wide smile on her face, but she was determined to try them all. After the seventh gown, she asked for the fourth again. All the ladies were smiling, too, when Sabina returned to walk the length of the room in the gown.
âYes, I think this is the one,â Sabina sighed, looking at herself in a full length mirror.
Alex walked up behind her and placed her hands on Sabinaâs shoulders. They smiled at one another in the reflection, and Alexâs aura surged slightly from the happiness she felt for her friend.
âAnd the sash and skirt match your ring, Sabina.
